Dr Lisa Kaley-Isley

Dr Lisa Kaley-Isley has been licensed as a clinical psychologist in the United States since 1992, and was first introduced to yoga in 1993. Before relocating to London, she was the Chief of Psychology, Director of Psychology Training, and founding Clinical Director of the Integrative Medicine program at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado, USA. Since 2004, she has been bridging her knowledge of psychology and yoga to provide yoga therapy to individuals struggling with the everyday stresses of life, mild to severe anxiety and depression, and the concomitant physical and psycho-emotional challenges of coping with acute and chronic medical illness. Lisa has furthered her understanding of applied yoga therapy by conducting research trials studying its effectiveness with individuals diagnosed with anxiety, depression and various medical disorders, and has presented her findings at conferences across the United States.

Lisa’s yoga teaching draws broadly on the wisdom elements from many schools of yoga, but most deeply from the living lineage of Tantric Hatha Yoga and Sri Vidya as taught by Yogarupa Rod Stryker and Pandit Rajmani Tigunait. She has completed over 500 hours of dedicated teacher training with Rod Stryker and is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance. Lisa’s yoga therapy training is with Gary Kraftsow, founder of the American Viniyoga Institute. The Viniyoga principles of sequencing and providing a uniquely adapted practice appropriate for the needs of the individual strongly influence her teaching style and her work as a yoga therapist.

Lisa believes that yoga practices are techniques used to achieve harmonious unity with self and other. In group classes and individual yoga therapy sessions, Lisa unites her knowledge and experience as a clinical psychologist, practising yogini, yoga teacher, and yoga therapist to address the needs and interests of individuals as whole persons. Lisa seeks to assist each individual to achieve more optimum functioning and integration of the physical body, energetic and physiological systems, mind and emotions, and spiritual connection to the web of life.
