Alex Drummond
Alex Drummond is a senior accredited cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist with clinical and research interests in conditions of neuro-diversity (ADHD; Autism; Dyslexia; Dyspraxia). She is also an activist and campaigner for LGBTQ equality and accredited as a specialist in GSRD therapy Her interests in ADHD arose from her own lived experience of having ADHD and being raised in a family where autism and ADHD impacted family dynamics. She came out as trans in 2010 and found the counselling establishment far less accepting than her clients: as it turns out the clients relate positively to her authenticity. From an intersectionality perspective, different aspects of self and identity have acted at different times, both as positive (or privileged) and disadvantage: the context matters.
In addition to her private practice, Alex is a regular guest lecturer at the University of South Wales; she serves on the South Wales Police Legitimacy and Accountability board and is a member of the Stonewall Transgender Advisory Group.
