Robin E. Sheriff
Robin E. Sheriff (University of New Hampshire) is an associate professor of anthropology. A specialist in race and racism in urban Brazil, and more recently, the anthropology of dreaming, she is the co-editor, with Jeannette Mageo, of New Directions in the Anthropology of Dreaming (Routledge 2021). Among her recent peer-reviewed publications are those that focus on dreaming as a site for examining the impacts of celebrity culture, new media and technologies, and consumption practices on shifting modes of subjectivity among young adult dreamers in the US. She has an abiding interest in comparative dream theories, exploring, for example, how Indigenous dream-related ontologies offer potent theoretical challenges to the foundational assumptions of Western dream science.
