Jeff Lane
Jeff Lane is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). He is registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and is a clinical member of the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA). He also holds a European Certificate in Psychotherapy (ECP).
He has been working as a therapist, supervisor and consultant since 1992, and has taught in various settings. He is committed to anti-discriminatory and gay affirmative practise and celebrates and supports diversity in himself and others. For 5 years he ran an on-going Men’s Therapy Group, and is currently researching material for a book entitled ‘Celebrating Manhood’.
Jeff never wanted to be a therapist; as a boy his only real interest was in farming and food production. He was brought up in the Cambridgeshire Fens and escaping into the fields and seeking out the company of farmers and farm workers provided a very much more supportive and nurturing secure base than the family he was born into! While he never achieved his ambition to be a farmer and, frankly, at the age of 63 he realises he almost certainly has more to offer as a therapist than he probably would have been able to give to agriculture, he retains a keen interest in rural affairs. He spends time each summer helping with the harvest on a local farm and also tends an allotment with varying degrees of success.
