Tayba Azim

Tayba Azim

Tayba runs her own private practice in Counselling, organises and facilitates psycho-spiritual retreats, and provides Mizan Therapy (healing techniques to address conditions of the reproductive organs, emotional health and unresolved trauma).

As a Mizan practitioner, Tayba has found that physical gynaecological symptoms have often been a result of unresolved trauma and emotional issues.

Tayba has worked in mental health, domestic abuse and trauma since 2010 working especially with the South Asian community, Muslim women and women living in deprived areas. Tayba uses an Islamically-informed approach in her counselling where required by her clients.

Tayba educates women to own and reclaim their rights in Islam, removing the guilt and shame they have been conditioned to due to patriarchy, culture and colonialism. She possesses knowledge of Islamic rights and law (particularly women’s rights) and separates where necessary what the Quran states and what is cultural. Women of faith are then able to make informed choices on a range of issues such as: sexual intimacy, pre-nuptial agreements or divorce.
