Joanne Hanrahan

Joanne Hanrahan is an IAHIP accredited Psychotherapist working in private practice in Co. Clare. She completed her psychotherapy training and MSc with Turning Point Institute and Dublin City University (DCU). Living by the sea on Ireland’s west coast, Joanne’s awareness of the therapeutic value of nature in terms of her own psychological process inspired her choice of research topic. Her MSc thesis, based on qualitative research, explores the role nature can play in psychotherapy. Joanne has completed a number of trainings in outdoor psychotherapy. She has presented and facilitated workshops on the topic of Nature and Psychotherapy to therapists both in Ireland and the UK and integrates nature into her practice in various ways including offering outdoor sessions.

Prior to embarking on her psychotherapy practice Joanne worked in second level Guidance and Counselling. She trained in Jungian Sand Therapy and was highly involved in adolescent counselling and student support in schools for almost 20 years.
