Jason Hepple
Dr Jason Hepple MA FRCPsych was born in Somerset and studied medicine and then psychiatry and psychotherapy at Oxford.
He became interested in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) in the early nineties as an alternative to ‘majoring’ in psychoanalytic psychotherapy or CBT. He was drawn to its collaborative stance and use of letters and visual maps. He has never looked back and has gone on to train as a CAT practitioner in Birmingham and then as a CAT psychotherapist and supervisor. He is a registered training supervisor with UKCP.
He is now course co- director of the Somerset CAT practitioner training, the University of Exeter CAT foundation course within the DClinPsych training and is co-trainer for the inter-regional CAT psychotherapy training. He has served two terms as Chair of the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) and if an ACAT life member. He has taught all over the world on CAT in later life, CAT in groups and the dialogic theory behind CAT.
He has worked for Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust for 20 years, including eight years as Medical Director. He is currently developing the CAT model to better work with obsessionality and anorexia.
