Professor Jan Slaby
Professor Jan Slaby is a junior professor in philosophy at Free University Berlin, Germany, where he works in the Institute of Philosophy. His areas of expertise are philosophy of emotion and affect, personhood, theories of mind, phenomenology, social and political philosophy, critical philosophy of science (particularly of psychiatry, psychology and neuroscience). His work is focused on the intersection of philosophy of mind, social philosophy and philosophy of science.
He takes a non-standard perspective in the philosophy of mind and subject theory centred on affect, agency and social interaction, employing a post-phenomenological methodology. In particular, his interests lie with on dynamic account of affect with a focus on subject-formation and social interaction, where he explores links to recent work in cultural studies.
