Erene Hadjiioannou
Erene has offered psychotherapy since 2010 in a variety of settings. Her focus is working with the traumatic impact of sexual abuse with clients of any gender, including working in a LGBT+ affirmative way when necessary.
Erene is also a writer, speaker, trainer, and activist. Her latest publication is: ‘Supporting Survivors of Sexual Violence in Psychotherapy: Inside & Outside the Room’. She believes that practitioners have a social responsibility to advocate in service of clients in order to maximise the efficacy of psychotherapy and reach all kinds of survivors in our communities.
Since 2019 Erene has been part of an independent steering group that has lobbied to change the Crown Prosecution Service guidelines on pre-trial therapy.
Between 2014 and 2018 she set up and co-ordinated two services in Leeds where every person referred had experienced abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, financial). Presently, she is based solely in her private practice called Therapy Leeds.
