Lucy Hill

Lucy is a London born adult adoptee who has lived in Hong Kong since 1988. She has been in a relationship with Tim since they met at university in 1981 and left a successful career in sales and marketing to become a full time parent to their two daughters in the 1990’s. During that period, Lucy managed the couple’s growing property portfolio and developed a keen interest in community service projects and social inequality issues.

In parallel, she gradually experienced the onset of alcoholism. Since 2010, her own journey into sobriety and recovery from sugar and alcohol addiction has moved from private to public discussions. Despite the narrowing of the gap between her inner and outer life, mysterious chronic back pain persisted which led her to enter psychotherapy in 2015. Slowly, in therapy, Lucy has found the verbal and written language constructs to express her emotions as an adopted child, which have formed the basis of presentations to communities affected by adoption.
